Timothy Powell
The Davidson Fine Arts Chorale performs regularly at prestigious events and venues in their home state of Georgia, across the nation, and internationally. The Chorale was honored in 2004 and 2005 with invitations to perform at the American Choral Directors Association Divisional and National Convention, as well as performances at the Georgia Music Educators Association conference in 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2012. In 2007, The Chorale performed at the Music Educators National Conference Southern Division Convention in Charleston, South Carolina. In 2007, and again in 2008, The Chorale became the first high school ensemble to present a concert on the National Gallery of Art Concert Series in Washington, D. C. In 2010, the Chorale received an exclusive invitation to sing for Easter Sunday services at the historic St. Thomaskirche in Leipzig, Germany, the home church of J. S. Bach. The choir followed up this honor with a world-premiere performance at Lincoln Center in NYC in 2011, and are the 2012 Winners of the American Prize in Choral Performance.
Dr. Timothy Michael Powell is the Director of Choral Activities at the Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School. Dr. Powell holds a DMA in Conducting from the University of South Carolina where he studied with Larry D. Wyatt. He was the 1999 National Choristers Guild Scholar, a 2002-2003 United States Fulbright Scholar to Bulgaria, and a 2002 Fellow with the prestigious South Carolina Conductors Institute. He received both his Bachelors and his Masters degrees in Church Music from Belmont University where he studied with Timothy W. Sharp. His compositions include numerous major works, including his Wedding Mass, which was premiered at Carnegie Hall in June 2008 under his baton with festival chorus, and his opera His Terrible Swift Sword, which was premiered in April of 2007. In June 2011, Dr. Powell conducted the combined ensembles at Davidson along with choirs from around the world at Lincoln Center for the world premiere of his piece Incarnatio Mysteria. He is published exclusively through Spivey Music Publishing. Active as a scholar, Dr. Powell presented research at the 2010 ACDA Southern Division Conference in Memphis, TN. He holds memberships in the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Society, The Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts, The Georgia Music Educators Association, The National Association for Music Education, and the American Choral Director's Association. In addition to his work with Davidson, Dr. Powell is a member of the Cecilia Ensemble, a professional vocal ensemble based in Augusta, and founder and artistic director of Decorus: Augusta's Premiere Youth Choir.
Westminster Chorale
Amy Turner
The Westminster Chorale performs regularly at adjudicated festivals and civic functions. Under the direction of Amy Turner, choral ensembles within Chorale have received superior awards in performance and sight-reading at Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) performance evaluations. Members of the group consistently claim state choral awards through Georgia Independent Schools Association (GISA) and successfully audition into the GMEA All-State Chorus.
Amy Turner is the Choral Director and Fine Arts Coordinator at Westminster Schools of Augusta in Augusta, GA, where she conducts five primary choral ensembles. She holds a MM in Choral Conducting from The Ohio State University where she studied with Hilary Apfelstadt. Her Bachelor's degree in Music Education is from Wheaton College (IL) where she studied with Mary Hopper and Paul Wiens. Amy holds memberships in Pi Kappa Lambda, GMEA, NAfME, and ACDA. She organizes the GMEA District Honor Chorus and Vocal Solo and Ensemble and serves as an Advanced Placement (AP) Reader for Music Theory.
Indiana State University Concert Choir

The Indiana State University Concert Choir is a 48-voice select ensemble with an outstanding reputation for producing world class performances of quality choral repertoire, ranging from the Renaissance era through the 21st Century. Under the direction of Dr. Scott Buchanan, the ensemble tours annually and has performed in New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. The group has also toured internationally, with recent performances in Switzerland and Italy. The ISU Concert Choir has been selected to sing for the Central Division conference of the American Choral Directors Association (Ft. Wayne, IN – 2012) and the state conference of the Indiana Music Educators Association (2005, 2014).
The Concert Choir is one of four outstanding ensembles in the comprehensive choral music program at Indiana State University. Other ensembles include: Masterworks Chorale, which performs a major work with orchestra each semester; Sycamore Singers, which produces a wonderful Madrigal Feast each year; and the Women’s Chorale, which performs a variety of repertoire representing all eras in music history. The ISU Choral/Voice faculty is a talented and dedicated group of professionals committed to teaching music at the highest possible level in a positive, yet challenging atmosphere. Our goal is to produce competent, well-rounded musicians who will be successful in their chosen field of music education, music business, or performance.

Cathedral High School Singers
Tyler Lemen
Tyler Lemen is in his second year as Director of Choirs and Piano Studies at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. Prior to working at Cathedral, Tyler was a student at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana where he earned his Bachelor’s of Music Education. While at Indiana State, Tyler was a member of the Indiana State Concert Choir, Masterwork’s Chorale, and Sycamore Singers. In these ensembles he had the opportunity to perform on many stages, both in the United States and abroad, under the Direction of Dr. Scott Buchanan.
The Cathedral Concert Choir is an auditioned group of predominantly upper-classmen who meet each day to work on a very diverse repertoire of choral music. Comprised of fourteen females and seven males, the concert choir is a relatively small, but talented group, of singers who have consistently earned Gold Ratings at the Indiana State School Music Association competitions. On top of four annual concerts each school year and leading the student body in worship once a month, the choir has performed on stages across the United States as well as in Ireland on multiple occasions.
Elkhart Memorial Chamber Choir
Brenda Butler
Brenda Lamport-Butler is the Director of Choral Music at Elkhart Memorial High School in Elkhart, Indiana. She works with nearly 300 students in the choral department on a daily basis and directs a men’s choir, women’s chorale, advanced chamber choir, Elizabethan Madrigal choir, and two vocal Jazz choirs. She also teaches piano classes and assists the two middle school programs that feed into her high school.
Butler holds a degree from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa with a double major in music therapy and music education. Before starting her work in the music education field, she worked as a music therapist for six years at the Fort Wayne State Developmental Center as well as in a local hospital with “music therapy assisted childbirth”. She began teaching in 1996 and her music education career now spans nearly two decades. She has been a guest clinician, guest conductor, and adjudicator for choral festivals and jazz festivals around Indiana and her concert, madrigal, and jazz choirs have traveled nationally as well as internationally. Her madrigal choir was selected to perform for the 2009 IMEA convention held in Indianapolis and her chamber choir also appeared on the ISSMA state finals stage in 2007. Her chamber choir groups have received the ISSMA “With Distinction” award for the past 8 straight years and the ISSMA “All-Choir” Award the past three years.
Butler is involved professionally on many levels. She is currently the area coordinator for the Indiana All-State Concert Choir, the state coordinator for the Indiana All-State Jazz Choir, the Repertoire and Standards Chair for the Indiana Choral Directors Association for Vocal Jazz, and serves as the ICDA Vocal Jazz Liaison to ISSMA. She also recently had the honor of being asked to represent ISSMA and all Indiana music educators by speaking to the Indiana Senate Education Committee in support of a music education bill (SB276) that will keep music ensembles alive and well in all Indiana school systems and not subject to being cut with any future budget shortfalls. She is passionate about providing a quality music education for all of her students!

Terre Haute South Chamber Singers
Paul Ellison
Chamber Singers, the premier select ensemble at Terre Haute South Vigo High School, consists of 20 – 24 singers selected through a rigorous audition process. Performing a wide variety of repertoire from renaissance to pop, Chamber Singers delights and entertains audiences large and small throughout the Wabash Valley. The highlight of the year is Madrigal dinners which are performed in period costume at Clayshire Castle in nearby Bowling Green, Indiana. Chamber Singers consistently earns gold ratings at state organizational contests and its members enjoy many accolades at state level solo and ensemble contests.
Paul Ellison is the choral director at Terre Haute South High School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Indiana State University in 2005 and expects to receive his Master’s degree in Music Education in 2014. Though only teaching four years at the high school level, Ellison has been recognized by an Indiana University researcher as one of the top 25 high school choral directors in the state of Indiana. In addition to teaching and pursuing a Master’s degree, Ellison also actively participates in two community choral ensembles and church choir.
